Are cartilage piercings dangerous?

Question

I personally dnt think so, but my moms all freaked about it because shes heard stories of people who had gotten it done and their ears rotted away or something. ive had it done before, but i did it myself and it got infected. ill get it done professionally this time(if i can convince her) can u tell me something to help me convince her theyre safe??

very dangerous, i was going to get mine pierced at a jewelry store but they said they couldn't do it because they r not insured if anything goes wrong. it just happened to be a coincidence that there was an ENT (ears nose and throat) doctor in the jewelry store as we were discussing this. the doctor said i shouldn't get it pierced because if it hits the wrong vein it can paralyze half your face or deform your cartilage. i know the chances of that happening are slim but there is still a chance you can be the one.

Its safe and all(: Im 12 and just got mine pierced at Claires!
They were really nice while piercing and they gave me ear solution cleaner and a directions like what 2 do you know? I  got mine pierced the 24th and today the 29th It feels amazing it doesnt hurt at all And somedays i cant even tell its there!!(:
And the gun deos NOT hurt AT ALL!
and its pre packaged so all those ppl who say they re-use the same one and dont clean are stupid. They are pre- packaged and they clean it before they pierce it trust me i sat there and watched(:
But just be careful you dont sleep or hit it or sleep on it!!
