Are cartilage piercings painful?

Question

I'm thinking about getting my cartilage pierced (the upper bit of my ear, not the lobe) is this really painful? And is Claires accessories a good place to get it done? (I'm 14, would I be allowed to get this done?)

Depends how you get it done. At clares it hurt a lot. but at home with a thumbtack and a bottle of brandy and a non squemish bf. Didn't hurt lol.

no they're not. i got my cartlige and my ear lobes pierced at  claires at the same time and the ear lobes hurt more, the cartlige just hurts more afterwards.. but only when you touch it and stuff. i recently just pierced my friend's cartlige myself and she said it didnt hurt at all.

i got mine done when i was 13 at claires and it is painful. when it goes in it isnet, when she/he pull the gun away it is, then for about 4 weeks its sore, but its so worth it. dont worry, you wont cry or anything.

Don't go to Claire's, a piercing studio would be better. The actual piercing isn't painful, but about 30 mins after it starts to really hurt, it will hurt a lot for a few hours or so. I have had mine for a year and a half and it gets sore if I sleep on it (with my ear on the pillow).

Hey,

I dont know if Claires is good or not but trust me it will hurt. Laying on it would be a very bad idea so is touching it. Your ear will be red for a while and make sure you clean it everyday with ear piercing cleaner or peroxide. Because of your age you might need a parent with and id to take you. Cause I had to get my stepmom to go and I got mine done a year ago at a Walmart.

After words though I loved my earing. Just dont think about it do it or you might chicken out.

My friend just got hers done. She says it is painful but she still manages, it's not like, excruuuuuciating pain or anything..But it does hurt way more than the lobes.

And no you can't go to Claire's to get it done, my friend had the exact same thing, she went to Claire's and they told her you can only get it done at tattoo & piercing parlors...

And yes you would be allowed if with a parent or guardian because my friend went with her aunt and she was fine and she's only 13.

I got 1 of those when i was 12 and it hurt like h**l for a few weeks but it started feeling better after a while and now I have a total of 4 studs in the cartilage

yes you would be allowed to get it done. I had mine done a year or so ago. I loved it, and no, it didn't hurt to have it done. More or less I felt like a cow being tagged...(hm, that didnt exactly come out the way i was originally planning) but anyway later it got very infected and a friend had to remove it because it was bleeding badly. but then again, i have very sensitive ears. But I say Go for it!! Its a neat look. I'd do it again if I could.

No, it doesn't hurt. I had mine done a few years ago and many people have mixed opinions on cartilage piercings, for me, I love it! Claire's yeah, I went to a tattoo parlor but you need parental consent either way. Good luck!

My cousin recently got it done and she said it was quite painful but not for long. However she found it awkward at night as she had to remember not to lie on it. It bled a lot too and i had to wipe it with this special liquid she had! I don't think it's worth it!

No, not Claires. They use a gun, and for cartilage you need to use a needle, so the cartlilage doesn't shatter, and needles hurt less then guns. It depends on what part of your cartlilage.

i think the people that said it hurts are sissys. i had mine when i was 11 or 12 cant remember, and it didnt hurt at all, and i hate pain, but it never hurt.

i've heard it's quite painful; more than the lobe, but nothing close to the tongue or eyebrow.

You can't do it legally at 14 unless you have adult consent (e.g. a parent or guardian with you)

its a bit ****; i can't get a tattoo for 3 years!
