Are cats the most pointless and useless pets ever?

you can take a dog for a walk, he'll bark if someone tries to come in your house, teach them tricks,loyal... a parrot can learn to talk. etc, but cats well all they do is moon about and do what they want to, eat and c**p, and puke they won't come when you call them, wont do tricks, and they wont stop a burglar...useless, yes or no?

Haha cat's play with you and sleep in your bed with you and love you!  So what if they don't answer to their name!  My grandma's cat does!  Anyway, they shouldn't pee everywhere if you've trained them correctly, dogs pee everywhere if you don't house train them...anyway, cat's are more useful than fish!

I have to live with one it is soooooo Pointless I HATE it so much. The only thing my mum's dog do is smell very bad, eats ****, p**p everywhere in the house and pee and even puck on my mum's bed the how much the stupid dog loves you. no! cats r wonderful! just becuz cats r quiet and dont do anything doesnt mean they rnt good pets. do this to ur cat. (only if its under 10 years in human years) put it on your bed. put ur foot under the covers and move ur foot bac and forth. now. watch ur cat attack ur foot. also. get some catnip or yarn or wtvr and play with ur cat. also if u cant get to sleep at night sometimes the purring of a cat sooths u. thats wat it does for me. hope i convinced u!

Let me mention useless pets: Reptiles (python, cobra and the entire family), rodents like Hamsters, Mice, rats etc and bugs.

Cats do tricks. Mine fetches, knows how to align things. He also comes when I call. He can tell by my tone of voice if I'm worried or not when I call him. If he notices that I'm looking for him, cannot find him and I'm calling him, he'll come running immediately and will chatter, like saying: 'I'm here ma'........the cutest thing.  Cats give a lot of love and relaxation.  Watching my cat play, sleep or just stare is enough for me to forget a stressful day at work.

If you clap you hands once real loud and call out there name they will come to you.And if it smell something strange it will whipper really loud.Plus they are really good stress relievers.So no I don't think there useless.

Actually, Cats can attack people if they think something is wrong. For instance, Once, I was at my friends house, and an actual child molester came in through the upstairs window (we were down stairs) and his cat, Juliet, actually attacked the molester. All we heard was some screaming so we ran upstairs and found that man being attacked by the cat. So cats can be useful, too.

your very wrong!! Cats are marvelous!! Contrary to what you think, as kittens you can teach your cat to do tricks. Not all cats, but quite a few do come when you call them. But dogs c**p in the house on you floor, and they bark even if somebody is just crossing on the road (NOT on your property).  I have 2 cats and I love them to death! My new kitten follows me around the house, sits on my lap, plays with string and whatever else. You should be more open minded to ALL animals.

Cats make wonderful friends, if you let them.  Also, they catch rodents, so that's a plus.

If you want a pet that serves you then yes, don't get a cat.  Don't get anything other than a dog and even then be careful which dog you get.

You can teach cats tricks, it just tends to take a bit more effort.  My cats generally do come when I call them.  They rarely throw up and I don't have to walk them for them to c**p/pee - I just dump it out.  Easy enough.  

My cats are sweet and snuggly, they purr when I pet them, and don't require all that much effort to care for.

When I was a kid my uncle gave me a pet rock.  That was the most pointless, useless pet ever.

Cats are great. They don't bark all night and annoy the neighbors. You have to take dogs for a "walk" to do their "business" . The cat will toilet themselves in a litter box.(I have a self cleaning box).If a cat soils in the house, they are mad at you for something. A dog will annoy the heck out of you for attention. A cat will give you attention on their terms, they are not as needy as dogs. If a cat pukes in your home, you are feeding it the wrong food, and this is its way of telling you.   Cats are very smart. My cats do tricks, come when I call or whistle for them. My cats are very loyal and loving and know that if I didn't invite someone in they don't belong and will howl loud and one of my cats actually attacked a burglar. They are great stress relievers.It has been proved a purring cat will lower your blood pressure and calm your nerves . You don't have to play with them to amuse them, they can amuse themselves ad you too.  When all is said and done, the more people I meet, the more I love my cat.

Sea monkeys are more pointless and useless than cats. While cats are on the list of less useful pets for sure...(you forgot to mention that they pee on stuff too)...but they're kinda nice...they look really cute and they eat rodent and bugs

I do believe that cats are only for people who are confident of themselves and need no reassuring. People who are not capable of feeling secure and thus needs a dog to bark if someone tries to come in your house (and also because the person has committed countless crimes against humanity and has to consistently on alert than people are going to break into their homes to seek revenge), people who has no social life and has to teach their dog tricks to amuse themselves, people who seek loyalty from a dog just because they can establish themselves as a pack leader, and people who are lonely and needs a bird to talk to.

Cats on the other hand, will have none of those side show. They live by their own rules, carry out mission to their own whim and fancy, self assured, asserted, determined, passionate about food and is the role model for cleanliness is next to holiness. They will not adhere to human commands simply because they are not show offs, and albeit a little bit egocentric. To a human who has no basic understanding on a cat's modus operandi, they are often misunderstood. But all is not loss, the more humans are trying to compare them to something they totally aren't, the more mysterious they become.

My cat comes when I call him, he doesn't demand attention All The Time like a dog would, and now that I have him, I'm not alone in my house. I like having another living thing in my house with a personality, and he makes me laugh all the time when he plays or is curious about something. My cat makes me feel better about myself and about life, and that's why I don't consider him useless/pointless. I hope that helped to answer your question.

CATS ARE NOT POINTLESS. They live much longer than dogs, are graceful and beautiful, and curious. They provide excellent sleeping partners, and are great for people who like to "chillax." How are dogs going for a walk useful? I admit barking is useful if there are burglars, but cats are especially known for sensing the paranormal. As far as tricks, do you really want something to act like your slave? Or would you rather something have it's own brain. What is the use of parrots talking? And what the h**l is etc? Cats are loyal, sometimes. Some cats come when you call them, and some cats do tricks. And there are a lot of things that won't stop a burglar. Cats have personalities just like we do, and some cats are dumb, just like you are.
