Are celebrities good looking because they're famous or are they famous because they're good looking?

Compared to the average population, celebrities are generally better looking physically then most people. This got me wondering, are they better looking because they're famous and have resources to enhance their physical appearance, or are they famous because they were genetically gifted?

It depends on the type of celebrity you are talking about. Models for example are going to be better looking than the average person because essentially that it their job -- they're certainly going to be more photogenic. Actors will also be better looking than average, because essentially their face is their trade. Not all actors are exceptional, but they usually have something significant about them that set them apart from the rest. It sad but true, humans are attracted to s**y, pretty things. Very rarely in the eye of the media does personality come into it.

Final thought on the subject is that, by nature, we are attracted to confidence, wealth and power - being a celebrity usually gives you all of these, not to mention fascinating lifestyles the rest of us can only dream about. Of course they are going to be more attractive! Remember though, all the glitters is not gold.
