    Viruses tend to survive if they maintain conditions similar to those organism they infect. For example, a large number of viruses have been observed from Yellowstone's hot springs. These hot springs can range from 158-190 F and have a pH range of about 1-4.

    So, yes, viruses are present in extreme conditions because they are suited to infect the organisms in the environment.
