We had about 20 chickens on our farm, and even hatched a few.  If you get one when it is young and handle it a lot, they can be VERY sweet natured.  I have never been attacked by a chicken.  We had bannies & road island reds.  I suggest the Road Island Reds.  They were the prettiest and nicest.

Well, for the most part they are just skittish. HOWEVER, we had about 7 chickens, one of which was a Rooster. Every time we went to gather eggs the rooster attacked us...not pleasant.

Not normally. Rooster can be becaus ethey protect the hens. And can kill each other if you pu them together.

Only if you are mean to them they will be mean to you.

They usually mind there own business. If you want just get hens roos can be mean.

Actually they kind of are. Especially Roosters. They attack me

Some can be is right!  If there's a single Rooster with his own little flock of hens...they can be down right nasty! I know first hand! I had Incubated 8 eggs & raised the chickens when I was fourteen loved them I did ... Well,I did @ first. Loved all of them that is except the first hatcling (named Uno) which was a Rooster ! When Ol' Uno became mature, He became mean as all get out If anyone got near his flock of hens! He Literally, would Attack you! I remember one time he had scratched the entire length of my older brothers left cheek bloody ! It looked like a wild cat got ahold of him! Uno would even jump & kick @ the yearling calves when they'd come into the barn stall if  "His Girls"  were still on the floor & not up on their sleeping roost yet! Thus his demise by getting cow-kicked the next year wasn't that big a surprise! I guess our Brown Guernsey Lou-Lou had enough of mean old Uno!

However, Not all are mean. raise them around people activity and they are generally wary but peaceful. Raise them from hand fed chicks with alot of hands-on and they can be your best buds... even to the point of coming to your lap when called!

Depends on how much interaction they have with people.

Had a pet rooster who was utterly devoted to us and loved to be around us.

They are hard to chase down, but they are more likely afraid of you (if you don't socialize with it when it was a chick). Some peck at you, which really hurts!

Chickens are ussually not really mean just really scared. Though some brave ones might chase after you and try ro back yeah! i think Rosters are alot meaner then chickens!
