Are chinese people really bad at driving?

You have it wrong.  The people in the country of China have been experiencing a lot of car accidents recently because as a society, cars are a new thing.  It will work itself out though in a few years.

SOME Chinese people are bad drivers, just like some white people, some black people, some Indian people, etc. Seriously, how can you be "born" a bad driver. Its not a talent, its a learned skill. And as far as I know, Chinese people have the same range of peripheral vision as anyone else. Haven't you ever watched Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan? If they had no peripheral vision, the bad guys would get them every time.

I'm an Overseas Chinese driver, and what does peripheral vision got to do with anything? I've got glasses and still make perfect parallel parking. Maybe perhaps I've got a few blind spots, but at least I take it slow, so I hardly get any bumps on any vehicle at all. Perhaps you've never seen Chinese driving before, so you made assumptions. "Pity, and pathetic." That's how expatriates here in Asia will respond to your statement.

No worse that any other group.   In fact,  some things taught in a Chinese culture related to culture and respect may make them better than most.

No worse than any other people. Really old folks of any nationality make Chinese look like professionals.
