  1. The laws in Leviticus are a part of the old covenant between God and the children of Israel.  Christians were not a party to that covenant law.

The law served a purpose, and demonstrates for us today the futility of trying to measure up to the standard of God based on your own efforts.

  2. No, they are not.

  3. NO, Christ said that he came not to destroy Jewish law, but to fulfill it. (Matt. 5:17)

The Old Testament is the history of the Hebrews. The New Testament is the story of Christ's life and the birth of Christianity.

The Messiah is a Jewish concept. Where Jews and Christians differ is in whether they think the Messiah has come, or not.

The Old Testament prophesises about the coming Messiah. The Messiah would meet certain requirements, such as restoring the temple in Jerusalem, printing his own money, and being a military leader.

Well, Jesus couldn't restore the temple, because it wasn't destroyed until after his death. If you point this out to a Christian, they will say that it's a metaphor, not a building.

    And on it goes.

  4. Not unless it suits their purpose during any given argument and/or witnessing session.

  5. Only the one that tells them to hate g**s.

  6. The levitical laws applied only to the tribe of Levi, not all of Israel. They were Earthly priesthood laws.

Original Christianity had no Earthly priesthood and no clergy class at all. That was all added later and is Catholic mythology.

  7. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. The laws give guidelines to live by but they do not save you unless you can follow all of them and there is no way to do that. That is why Jesus came, to make a way through His death and resurrection for salvation.

  9. It says in Leviticus at the beginning, these laws were meant for the Isrealites, because they were straying from God and what he wanted of them. They began to worship other idols and layed with several women. They needed a strict way to get back into the path they were intended to be on.

  10. No.  The reason why they are in the Bible is to show how far we've come from the OT to the NT or the Old Covenant to the New Covenant.
