Are clams and oysters classified as meat? Can you eat them if you're a vegetarian?

They probably say that because they have no or barely visible/discernible  movement (like plants)

and some smart ale ck vegetarians use the argument that they don't eat anything "with a face". So the next logical question could be "what about oysters and other bivalves?"

Yes they are living, or were living creatures with parents. They are shellfish, and they are not kosher, meaning there is no humane way to kill them (boiling) without them suffering like lobsters and crabs and the like.

i'm not a vegetarian but i'd say yea. from what i understand any animal or animal product cannot be eaten by vegetarians. well, no animal products (i.e. milk, eggs, etc.) might only be vegans, i'm not sure. but i know that vegetarians do not eat ANY type of animals... fish, crustaceans, mammals, poultry, none of it.
