Are clothes softer when dried in the tumble dryer or on the washing line?

I was wondering which is best to make the clothes feel softer so should i tumble dry or hang out to dry?

  1. Most clothes are a bit stiff when hung on the line to dry. You can use liquid fabric softener in the wash to reduce the stiffness. No real difference in the feel of the material is noticed with polyester materials. Can't beat the fresh smell of hanging clothes on the line though, and it saves on electricity.


  2. depends on the kind of cloth.. but if u want em really soft buy some fabric softner and put it in with the laundry =)

  3. I'd say hang out to dry, then they are fresher!

  4. Hang out on the washing line and then you're saving on the electricity too!
