  1. No, they are buoyed up by denser layers of the atmosphere.  


  2. Clouds are water vapour. Vapour is clinging to one another through mutual attraction of the water molecules. But in a sense it could be related to gravity or plasma, in which it is cohesive molecular physics.

    We know that water tends to gather in masses in a pond or ocean and that many molecules can make up a single drop. That same characteristic is reflected in clouds it seems.

    They draw together. It's a property of base matter it seems.

  4. Technically, since clouds have mass, gravity does affect them.  Buoyancy is the physical principle that you are probably thinking about.  And buoyancy is a property that exists because of gravity.  So we went full circle, so the answer is yes.
