  1. no

  2. They are no different from regular contacts so as long as you take care of your contacts you are okay. The only side effect I can find is having unnatural looking eyes

  3. Colour contacts are not any worse than the usual contacts. You have to observe certain precautions and need to be aware of the potential complications of contact lens wear.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap everytime you touch the lenses. Dry your hands preferably with a fresh paper napkin or a clean and dry cloth that does not leave too much lint on your hands. Put the lens on the lower part of the eye (on the white) and not directly on the cornea( the transparent part).do not wear the lenses continuously for more than 6-7 hours, no matter what the manufacturer says. The longer you wear, the higher the chance of developing complications. DO NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR LENSES ON. You might end up with a severe corneal ulcer that can permanently damage your vision.

Use daily disposable lenses. If not, use protein removal enzyme tablets atleast once a week on your lenses. Change the lens solution daily, without fail. Do not use water or saline or any other home-made lens solution, you will end up with an acanthamoebic corneal ulcer and lose vision completely.

Over time, dry eye occurs in almost all wearers. Contacts also predispose to corneal abrasions, ulcers, corneal and conjunctival neovascularization, photophobia, giant papillary conjunctivitis etc. So get an ophthalmologist to properly assess your eye and prescribe a lens that is tailored to your needs. Do not go the optician and buy any lens that he gives you. And keep in regular touch with your eye surgeon, atleast once every 6 months or if you develop irritation, dryness or any other symptom.

  4. no as long as you take them out when your supposed to and change the pair when your supposed to
