  1. Some shops use a "Farrel" fitting but it is not even legal for brake lines in many states due to the liability and as for compression fittings, they would have to be designed just for brake lines, so contact your local department of motor vehicles to be on the safe side.

  2. I would call a few other brake shops and ask them. Surely one of them will know if there are legal issues. I didn't know there were compression fittings sturdy enough to withstand brake line pressure.

Myself I would prefer the flared type with sturdy, reliable fittings fastened with nuts.....

  3. compression fittings. do you mean a line lock kit? i think they are okay because its not distracting like glowing neon or a volatile substance like nitrous. i would think its okay but I'm not sure as i am from Michigan. good luck.

  4. Depends on if we're talking about air brakes or hydrolic brakes. With air brakes, every fitting on the truck should be a compression fitting. With hydrolic brakes, every fitting on the truck should be a flare fitting.

  5. they may not be against the law but they are a hack job.

they used to be illegal in wisconsin but a year ago a guy from the parts house told me that that was changed I still would not use them I have seen a few cars come into the shop with them but I will never put them into a line. Are you sure its compression fittings not a line union.

if they are flared and joined with a line union it's a ok

  6. I don't know if they are illegal, but they aren't as safe as double-flared brake fittings.
