  1. No, you need to buy an extension socket which specificaly states that it is surge protected, if you are unsure ask your dealer.

    Extension cable sockets are not fitted with surge protection.

    You have to buy a surge protection extension cable or a UPS to get surge protection.   Try Triplite, APC, Belkin.
