  1. until the pro-life crew steps up and seriously supports comprehensive s*x ed and increased availability/affordability for contraceptives, it will be hard to believe that they are serious about reducing the amount of abortions instead of just controlling women's bodies.

  2. Its not working in Europe so why try it here.

since you wont read the link

s*x education initiatives are failing to control the spiralling teenage pregnancy crisis, ministers have admitted for the first time.

Every year, almost 50,000 girls under 18 fall pregnant, leading critics to claim that government-led efforts to encourage safer s*x are backfiring. The number who conceive is at its highest level since a multi-million-pound teenage pregnancy crackdown almost a decade ago.

As a result, Britain tops the league table of teenage mothers in western Europe, despite also having a record number of school-age abortions.

This comes despite the Government investing more than £150 million in an attempt to stem the tide of conceptions - and pledging to cut teenage pregnancy rates by half by the end of this decade.

Ministers admit - in a document quietly released before the Christmas parliamentary recess - that the 2010 target to cut teenage pregnancies is doomed to failure.

  3. This teen pregnancy is the one that broke the straw huh?   Are you kidding me?  Teen pregnancy is not solely a Republican issue, it's not solely a Democratic issue, it's an AMERICA issue.  Why is her pregnancy even up for debate.  It just shows that we are the sheep of the Media and that they control politics and what they think is important.  If this never were reported, or just briefly mentioned (not repeated every 5 minutes) we would not be debating this.

  4. Why should the government teach s*x education

Are you trying to say that a 17 year old these days doe not know where babies come from and how to prevent it?

It is not the job of the government to teach morality in school

They already have health classes that fully explain te reproductive process

Parents should take responsibility for their own children and stop asking the government to do it for them

  5. come on do you really think if Palin's daughter was in a school that provided s*x ed that she wouldn't have gotten pregnant then?  Please i'm sure the 17 year old knew that having s*x could lead to pregnancy and i'm sure she knew about condoms...hello we live in a cyber world where all she would have to do is click here and there and find out all the info she needed...plus maybe she doesn't share the same backwards beliefs as her mother does.  She was raised in a home where her mother lectured about things such as anti-g*y marriage, and anti-abortion, and anti-birth control...so she did two of those things...too bad she didn't listen to the part about no s*x before marriage.  I just think she put her mother in a very sticky situation.

  6. Nope. Parents. I WANT to teach my child about s*x education when the time is right. She doesn't need to be subjected to some mass media BS s*x education class when the GOVERNMENT decides the time is right.

How about holding the parents accountable instead of continuously letting them off the hook. I realize you have to keep your base needy so you blame schools, social programs, etc without ever improving parenting because that might actually get them out of the lower class and allow them to succeed, then there goes the Democratic base.

Pathetic. I'm responsible, I'LL teach my child.

  7. I had s*x ed or "health" class as they called it....but I learned like most everyone else...from my friends. lol

  8. I am a conservative and have no issue with s*x education in schools.  I am just glad to see that Bristol Palin values life enough not to abort her child.   Shows that her mother did something right.

  9. They don't need s*x education

They already know how to do it apparently. Unfortunately they never learned about SAFE s*x.

  10. I doubt it. They will just deal with the consequences. That's how it is in La La land. Do you think it's about what is best for the kids? I don't. I think it's what is best for them. Maybe the Republicans are a bunch of narcissists? Maybe? Everything is an extension of themselves? Knowledge is power. They are afraid of giving knowledge because then it will erode their power?

I am in favor of s*x education. I went through it. It empowered me and I made the right decisions. I'm a liberal democrat and a responsible, tax paying citizen.

edit: I'm from MA. What happened in Gloucester is the result of a lack of opportunities and lack of parental involvement/support. It's a very poor community. You have a lot of haves and have nots in MA. Gloucestor is a community of have nots. They need more than just s*x education is my whole point. It's not that simple.

edit: People don't get it. It's not just about prevention. It's about reducing the numbers too. You cannot reach everyone with s*x Ed but you can reach more. It has been proven to work. Look at the history and look at what is happening today. s*x Ed does make a difference.

edit: I see more of why there is a problem because some people are incapable of seeing another perspective.

  11. I have made the point many times.  We have more than enough "s*x" education.  How about a little "Moral" education?  When I was a child, we were taught about s*x as High School Juniors.  We were also taught abstinence.  Very few teenaged girls ended up pregnant.

Now we not only teach all about s*x in Grade School, we also issue condoms.  Now, we do not have teenage birth control but rather teenage birth out of control.

Yet you think the answer is more s*x education at an earlier age?

    Go figure.

  12. We have s*x education all over America...and pregnancies all over america.

Massacheussets has s*x ed.  And a huge group of teens had a pregnancy pact....that is with s*x ed.

So a teen gets pregnant in a family that believes in Abstinence, therefor abstinence is a total failure....brilliant!

I'll simply go to my local school and find a pregnant teen who was taught s*x-ed, and by your idiotic logic, I guess s*x ed is a total failure.

Do you see how stupid your argument is yet?

So you're argument is absurd.  try using logic...for once.
