  1. From Hawaii, the majority of the constellations are the same as from the mainland but  you can see more of some of the southern constellations. For example, you can see the Southern Cross and Alpha and Beta Centauri from Hawaii, whereas from the mainland these stars either never rise at all or barely scrape above the horizon.

  2. No.  You'd have to be a significant fraction of a light-year away to see any difference.

  3. Well, because of their more southern latitude, they may be able to see a few southern constellations in Hawaii that are not visible from the mainland USA. I'm not sure, though, I've never been there.

  4. No the only way the constellations are different is throughthe northern and southern hemisphere

the southern hemisphere at the moment is in winter and the northern (inc hawaii) is in summer the constellations for summer inc scorpio (not visible in winter)

and in the winter orion (not visible in summer)

  5. no, you will generally see the same constellations as on the mainland - there is only a small difference in latitude between each location.

  6. I'm not quite sure what you mean by that but in Hawaii, you can see constellations that are not visible from the mainland except for the most extreme southern locations. For example, you can see Crux and the entire constellations of Centaurus and Eridanus. On the mainland, you can only see those from the most southernmost areas of Florida and Texas but even from there, they are hard to see because there is so much light pollution and haze on the horizon.

  7. No but they will be seen better during different times. I think the constellations would look sharper and better from an island. I sure wish I was in Hawaii at this moment.
