Question:

Are contact lenses bad in the long run?

Most of the people Ive asked about contacts say that 10 years is the average limit. After 10years of wearing contacts you cannot wear them anymore.

Are they talking about the hard or soft ones?

Is it true because I really want to get them but I want to know everything about them and see if they will harm my eyes in any way.

Thanks

  1. just make sure you don't sleep with em in.

and in the long run, they help hold ur prescription.

  2. Yes, it is true that after lenses for like 10 to 15years, most ppl eyesight cannot take it. Thus cannot wear lenses any more

  3. The problem is that so many people abuse their eyes with contacts by not acting reasonable with them at all.

Leaving them in for days, and even weeks at a time, sleeping with them continually , bad cleaning habits , and many other dumb things some contact lens wearers do shorten the time that their eyes will remain healthy enough to wear them.

Those that abuse them can't get many years of comfortable wear out of them...but those who follow the rules and use common sense can have many,  many years of comfort with them.

  4. I have been wearing contacts for about 15 years and all I can say is that they are fine as long as you take them out and clean them regularly.  I don't understand what would be bad.  I have the soft ones.
