Question:

Are contacts a better choice than glasses?

I've been wearing glasses for YEARS, but it's becoming increasingly annoying to wear them without getting a migraine. I have myopia and it worsens in only a couple of months.

I'm also really active so it's uncomfortable to wear it while I work out. So, should I get contacts?

Are they even safe? Everyone tells me that they 'ruin' your eye-sight. Do they?

  1. if glasses give you headaches, i think you should get an exam. your prescription could have changed and i've been wearing contacts for two years now and i love it. just don't wear them all the time if you do decide to get them. they are perfectly safe only don't sleep in them. i think glasses are better for your eyes, i just got contacts because i liked myself better without the glasses, so it's really up to you. :)

  2. you should consult an optometrist. this situation is different for everyone. if your eyesight is poor and you wear classes 24/7, your eyes become more dependent and can gradually get worse. in this case you may want to opt for contacts.

  3. Hey,

Ever considered lasik surgery. I've been on glasess for years too but now lasik change all that.

  4. If you have problems wearing your glasses, it's best to go to your optician and get it checked.

Because you're really active, contacts is a good idea as they're safer than glasses. Glasses is less of a hassle (no need to ensure clean hands, etc) and you can just pop them on really quickly.

You could always change between the 2 during the day.

Contacts are safe as long as you are careful. That is, ensure your hands are clean, your surroundings when you put them on is relatively clean, and you don't get anything in your eyes with the contacts on.

As for them "ruining" your eyesight, I'm not aware of this fact. I think contacts is the same as glasses in this matter.
