From childhood i was supposed to be using eyeglasses to correct the weaker eye vision.

I was cross eyed

But due to a freak playground incident in 2nd grade, i didn't have glasses till 5th or 6th grade.. now my left eye is corrected but my right eye is weak, and my ovrall vision is based on my left eye. Now I have lazy eye in my right eye and i can't see sharply with my right eye.

I wore glasses for the 6th to 7h grade. And now im in 9th. My parents say that contacts won't work because of my lazy eye, and that only glasses are a solution.

I have a very low self esteem as far as looks go, and im not someone who looks good in glasses.

Are contacts really not an option.

  1. I dont know if your glasses have prism in them (they most likely do), If your glasses have prism which help your lazy eye, contacts wont help you at all because they cannot put prism in contact lenses.

  2. I think your best bet is to ask your optometrist if contacts will work for your specific situation.

I was also treated for strabismus when I was a child.  I was patched, prescribed eyeglasses with a prism correction, had two surgeries, and went through vision therapy.  The eyeglasses I was prescribed as child made me dizzy and sick.  My parents and the doctor realized that I was not able to handle a prism correction.

My right eye has normal vision and my left eye has mild to moderate astigmatism so everything is a little blurry.  I did not start wearing corrective lenses regularly until I was about 30 years old even though they had been prescribed several times before that.

I usually wear a contact lens in my left eye and glasses at home when needed.  I have a similar situation to yours and I can wear a contact lens.

Please feel free to show this to your parents and Good Luck!
