What if you you are with someone that supports a different candidate for president, wouldn't you feel like your canceling their vote out by voting for the other candidate?

  1. If you both honestly cared for each other, than you should be able to respect each others' politica differences.

Also, this is why our votes aren't public.

  2. ask that to Arnold and Maria in California..ones a republican and she is a democrat

  3. No they are not, and don't let your significant other tell you otherwise.

You are also not obligated to tell anyone who you voted for. That's why they have those private little booths.

There are many, many couples out there who vote diivergently. Consider Arnold Schwarzenegger and his Kennedy wife. My mom was a Republican and my dad's a Democrat.

  4. No one is obligated to vote the same way as their partner. Voting is a private matter, you have no obligation to tell your partner who you voted for. If you are inclined to vote for the Republican ticket, just lie about it to your partner, most recent Republican politicians feel no guilt about lying, why should you? Do you really think Cindy Mack Cane will be voting for her husband, with the choice he made of his running mate?

  5. Goodness, not married eh! Better yet let's ask Maria and Arnold, or Mary  and Jim.

  6. no they are not, each person is given the right to vote their own conscience. My parents were opposite parties and basically cancelled each other out but they always voted. It should not matter, you still need to vote. But vote how you believe, not how your spouse or SO believes.
