Question:

Are credit reports worth the cost?

I am paying $5.99 a month on my credit card so that I could get a credit report from CreditInform every 3 months. That's $72.00 a year.

Is this worth it?

And does anyone know anything about CreditInform?

Thanks.

  1. Cancel that immediately.  It's a waste of money.  I have no idea who creditinform is.  It could be one of the credit bureaus selling montioring or it could be a third party, which is even worse.

You are entitled to one free report from each credit bureau each year.  You can access those online at AnnualCreditReport.com.

If you want to know your score, go to MyFico.com.  You have to pay but you get real FICO not Fako.

  2. It's not worth it.  You are legally entitled to get one free credit report per year from each of the big three credit reporting agencies.  Go to annualcreditreport.com.

    You are getting ripped off.

  3. Thats a total ripoff. You can get yearly credit reports for free from the big 3, go to annualcreditreport.com, it is FREE.

  4. Like the other answers, I agree that you are wasting your money.

However, i signed up for truecredit.com for a few months so i could have constant access to my credit report while looking for/buying a home.

I used their simple dispute process and within 3 weeks of my initiating the disputes two derogatory items were removed from the report and my transunion score went from 656 to 726.

I totally felt like the $14.95 a month was worth it when i saw that new score.

  5. no, don't pay for it!  by law you are permitted a free credit report every year.  http://www.fightidentitytheft.com/credit...
