  1. Not usually, but it has happened.  I have seen them come in about an hour late in Galveston.

  2. I've been on four cruises and they all have been early docking.  Its the Customs and Immigration part that can take a while, but I guess that depends if you go to another country or not. Getting on and off a cruise is the worst part - the rest is a party!

  3. no no

  4. I suppose they are however every cruise we have been on they always were at least an hour earlier than expected. The wait is getting off the ship once the ship has been cleared through customs.....

  5. Yes they are for many reason it could that there was a sick passenger that need to be evacuated or unexpected bad weather..

  6. I'm sure there have been some incidents where a cruise ship was late returning. I would think that a late arrival would only happen for a safety reason. If there was thick fog or extreme weather conditions, a ship may have to reroute to avoid it. If there was some sort of threat on board, the ship would have to stop of course.

  7. usually they are good at getting to port on time, it is leaving that they are almost always late at least half hour to an hour.

  8. Typically ships dock on time or early.  However, disembarkation can and has been delayed due to customs or immigration officials.

Ship's have also been forced to make late arrivals due to hurricanes and other extremely severe weather.

  9. All the time, dude. I've never been on one, but it always happens, just like plains.

  10. Hardly ever, they will cut some other part of the cruise short to avoid that.  Because as soon as they get back to port, they start loading supplies for the next group of passengers.  Not being ready for them would be extremely costly.

  11. I've been on six cruises in 8 years and 4 of them were more than one hour late.  One was two days late due to a hurricane!  Another was 4 hours late due to bad weather, and the other two were around 2 hours late due to minor ship problems and weather.

If you are flying home after your cruise, consider staying at a hotel near the port for the night you return and booking your flight home for the next day.  It's a lot less stressful!  and you'll get another day relaxing near the water.

  12. Usually not too late. Or else they could lose their job. They are either on time or a few minutes away.

  13. If you relay on a public transportation to get home either take one that is changeble or take the better part of a day (cruise ships usually arrives on the morning and leave on the evening) to give you enough time to get to the airport. If the ship is early or in time you can always spend some time in your arrivial port. Johan
