  1. Yes

  2. No Puddin.  Just frink the jungle juice they gave you and someone willb e by to clean up the bodies.

  3. Not really.

The term "cult" itself is controversial, but for the most part, everyone agrees that religious organizations that enforce discipline via mind control and torture are bad.

  4. Only if one allows them to create controversy and conflict in their lives given the fact that manipulation causes stress ....  Really, if one is grounded in their relationship with God cults do not exist to them.  However, cults do exist.

  5. I'd say they're less an issue than they were.  Compared to 25 or 30 years ago, people aren't nearly as anxious about non-christian religions as they were.  Most people don't automatically see non-main stream religions as dangerous anymore.  Even the Hari Krishnas have mellowed, they don't dress in the robes anymore.

Then again maybe it's just because the only cult stories we've seen lately have involved ones that don't do much recruiting outside their congregations, like the fundamentalist Mormons, so they're seen as less threatening.  It's been awhile since a large cult hit the news like the Branch Davidians,  Heaven's Gate, Aum Shinrikyo, or MOVE.  Maybe all it would take is yet another suicide or murder cult to hit the news, to revive the controversy.

  6. Yes they are. It all depends on how you define a cult. There are numerous definitions. For those of us who have been victims of cults we fight to get the truth out about them. Sometimes it's frustrating.

  7. Not really, what are they doing is what should be the ????

  8. Yeah it depends on the definition. Mum joined a traditional Christian church when I was 8 and so her definition was basically all religions outside of traditional Christian boundaries. I am always amazed how people find the answer to all their problems in the first and only church or whatever they come across. I was taught that particular mainstream religions were bad so in my early 20's I joined a few to find out why. And once I figured out what wasn't wrong with them I left just as suddenly.

  9. not if we don't talk about them (shhhh)

  10. there are many diferent kinds of cults, society  tells you which cults  are good.  but everyone should still have a choice to choose a group or cult of there choice
