  1. The daycare center I used to work at (which I hated by the way) would take part time children - they were open from 6 to 6.  So, if your waitressing job goes past 6:00 P.M., you would still need to find a babysitter.

  2. Most of them are Mon - Fri but in my area (pop. 200,000+) there are at least one or two places that are open 24/7 to cater to unique needs.

  3. you're going to want to ask around.  Ask friends who have less structured schedules.  And your best bet for finding something to meet your schedule is to find a home day care, not a center, for exactly that reason.  While many day care homes also have schedules, some are more flexible than others, and I know some who will take kids overnight if necessary.  Don't know of any centers that do that.

  4. The best solution would be to find another part time worker and share babysitting. You watch hers when she works, and she watches yours when you work. If one of you works more hours than the other, then you charge whatever you agree to, say $5 per hour. It would help both of you out.

  5. Most operate from Monday-Friday. Sometimes hospitals and colleges with night classes have centers with longer hours but they don't always take outside kids. You might have better luck with a licensed Family Day Care home. Some of them do non-traditional hours. The changing schedule might be an issue though. You'll have to find someone really flexible.

  6. Most daycare centers are Mon-Fri days. You may find one open as early as 7am and as late as 7pm. If you need later hours or weekends you may need a babysitter instead.
