Well yes I'm deaf. I reliazed that hearing people are very smart than deaf people.. In Mainstream high school. It's not fair. I wish I want to be smart enough but i lost hearing when I was 2 years old and 6 months.

  1. yes they are. most deaf people cant write and spell the words correctly. thank god for that and i wouldnt know you were deaf if you wouldnt have said it !!!!!!

  2. I'm 30% deaf in my right ear due to inner ear infections as a child and I struggled through school because of it. And Learning disabilities. I have noticed a few days ago when I'm lying on my left ear, things are kind of muffled to my right ear. (I write better and speak pretty good.)

I have to cover my left ear when I go to sleep at night because every noise bothers me. Don't know why but I guess it helps muffle noises just like my right ear. Or it's my disability. Who knows?

I'm only smart if I do things I know repetitively. I have to be shown several times and keep doing it until I'm sure I'm doing things right.

And so, I don't tell anyone that I'm 30% deaf and have a learning disability. They abuse my intelligence and treat me like a child.

  3. it is not that your aren't smart enough. its that regular high school is not gear toward hearing impaired or seeing impaired people at all. there are even student who have extremely high IQs but in regular High school they do not get good grades. it is because of how schools teach not that you are deaf. see if there are any schools in your area that are set up specifically for the seeing and hearing impaired.

  4. I think with all the challenges they face day to day, its more than most carry in life time.  I think they're even smarter and God will only choose the ones he knows can handle it.  I have extreme hearing loss and went to school for medical assisting constantly asking to repeat the question or answer and then to do a stethescope, no way couldn't hear a thing, but I never gave up and I finish my classes in 2 weeks and will have my diploma in medical assisting.  I can find jobs that don't include having to listen to the heart.

You need to gain some confidence in yourself.
