Wow! An interesting question for a change!

I'm an ex-smoker so I can relate. Nowadays, it seems that the last bastion smokers can smoke is in their cars. No smoking in public places, and home is out if they have children....(do you notice those people on their decks in the middle of winter?)

My car does not even have an ashtray anymore...so I'm glad I don't smoke anymore.

I think delivery people have cars like mine...with no ashtray but even if they're not allowed to smoke, they would because when you're a smoker, you hide it like a drug addiction if it's forbidden, but you still do it. Some people hide their nicotine addiction from their spouse by doing a lot of teeth brushing and gargling! (like the spouse won't smell it on their clothes...).

So your question is not about if people are allowed to smoke in the cars....do they or don't they? whatever they're allowed to do.

Even if they supply their own car there may be something in their employment contract that dictates that the car must be clean and presentable and appear sanitary to the public.

But then again there may not be a policy in place.   This delivery person may be oblivious to the reasons why they don’t get tips.

The vehicle of a deliver driver is considered a work place, and there is NO smoking allowed in any workplaces here.

If they supply their own car they sure can! Of course, if the company supplies the car it's up to the company.

That is a GOOD question! And I would be interested to see answers from people who deliver food. I would think that they wouldn't be allowed to, but I guess you never know!

We owed our own business and we offered delivery and we did not allow drivers to smoke. In California you can't smoke in a restaurant so we felt why should they be allowed to deliver and smoke.

No we just banned that here in the UK its a place of work so you can not smoke. But not to many people take much notice of that. But offices and pubs and bars you are not allowed to smoke in any more
