Most futures and options have expiration dates less than a year from the date of issue.

The only listed stock options in the United States that have expiration dates greater than a year away are known as LEAPS. Not all stocks have LEAPS. When a stock does have LEAPS there are 11 normal expiration dates for every LEAPS expiration date.
