Are designer makeup prices worth it?

Question

So i have been looking around for some new eye make up and ive come to a cross roads. I cant seem to figure out if the designer makeup prices are worth it considering i just want a decent quality for a cheaper price? For example. mac pigments and nyx pigments. theyre the same but one costs way less and i dont want to buy something before i know that i like it. So where would i be able to get a sample to try this and where can i find nyx products if they seem to be the same as the designer ones? Any opinions

MAC makeup isn't the BEST quality, but it is worth the price (which is actually pretty low... I got a mascara for only $14!). It is fabulous if you want bolder colors. Some of my favorite eyeshadow brands are MAC (for my brighter stuff), Dior (for softer colors), Bare Escentuals (I love their power shadows), Napoleon Perdis (love their shimmers a ton, especially the golden beige! it's great to throw on in the corners of my eyes with just some brown shadow, with other colors to make them more shimmery, or just from lashline to crease to make my eyes pop while staying natural), and Tarte (I adore their eyeshadows - they have the right amount of pigment and apply VERY well; I highly recommend their new set that you can buy at Sephora or www.sephora.com).

I've found a great alternative to the expensive high-end brands. mark. has affordable, high-quality products and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It is definitley worth trying before spending a lot more on designer brands.

sometimes, i might buy some maybelling stuff, but i can be afraid of a breakout. i think maybelling is one of the bet cheapest brands. covergirl is HORRIBLE, that stuff is so bad, i think they use crappy ingredients. i know alot of people say the more expensive the better, and i do agree with that, with great quality, comes bigger prices, it's the same for clothes, cars, and houses. so, i would try a couple of those brands that i listed, and definantly try some maybelling products!

well.. this is my view on it... At first when i decided i was sick of having so much mismathcy makeup i decided to go to MAC have them do my makeup everything from base and foundation to eyeshadow and i bought EVERYTHING they used because i just LOVED IT... but it does get pretty expensive.. so now i still use MAC but only for the essentials... like my powder,foundation,my brushes for eye shadow and powder pretty much anything that has to do with makibg your skin look nice..

So for everything else.. I just use whatever i like!! the most important thing is that your skin looks nice and even and i only trust MAC for that! Hope it helps!

it's definitely worth it if you have sensitive skin. anything like foundation or powder i'd recommend spending money on. but things like eyeliner and eyeshadow NYX is a good brand you can find it at ULTA, cherryculture.com, or nyxcosmetics.com (:
