Are diamonds from big-name jewlers non-negotiable? Person did not haggle today at all?

There was a ring I was looking at for $7,000. The rep said there was nothing she could do, as this price is non-negotiable.

When I said I was paying cash, she said that's great but I won't get a better deal.

Is this common? Do you have to go to a small jewelry store to haggle?

Yes, pretty much. The only ones which might have some leeway are owner-run, mom and pop kind of stores.
