  1. Yes, they are and Carbon 14 dating suggests they existed before man.

  2. Oh yes... but the dinosaurs died out about 65 million years ago.  Man has only ben around for a hundred thousand years or so.  The oldest fossil life the stromatolites of Australia actually goes back about 3 BILLION years.

I know what you are going to say, how can we prove this.   Well there is the law of superposition, generally put, Sedimentary layers are deposited in a time sequence, with the oldest on the bottom and the youngest on the top.  This gives us a time sequence of when things occur.  Then there is radiocarbon dating and other similar tests.  These pinpoint the time of fossils to within a reasonable narrow window.

Not to tromp on your version of the bible, but perhaps the time scale is a bit off.

  3. no

    I have a pet t-rex

    his name is puggy

    lol

  4. Dinosaurs are very real - they lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, from about 180 to 65 million years ago, so well before man, who only arrived on the scene less than 1 million years ago.  The dinosaurs died out at the end of the Cretaceous period 65 million years ago, possibly as a result of a meteorite impact. The science behind this is good, and these dates are well established.  Given the rate at which geological processes occur and our knowledge of  stratigraphy we know that a very long time has passed since dinosaurs walked the earth, even without radiometric dating.  Please try and find some way to reconcile your beliefs with the facts - there are a great many convinced Christians who have no problems with this.

  5. <<I believe in the bible and people say dinosaurs are real but did dinosaurs really live before man?>>

The available evidence indicates the last of the non-birdy dinos dropped dead around 65 million years ago, and the earliest remains of humans, as in the genus /Homo/, date from thing like 63 million years later.  Scientists didn't make that evidence, and neither did I or you.  It came from the Manufacturer(s) of the planet.  If that happens to be in conflict with your understanding of something you've read, then it could be the apparent contradiction results from a misunderstanding.  Be that as it may, the youngest non-birdy dino fossils still date from 65 million years ago.

    Update

    <<Yes, they are and Carbon 14 dating...>>

Carbon 14 dating is irrelevant.  The half-life is too short.  That should be replaced with 'radiometric dating'.

    Update 2

<<They did. KTDykes answer is sufficient as always.>>

Most kind, but if it's only sufficient...  Still, it was concise, and my wife tells me my efforts are more than sufficient if I take more time.

  6. i think there was something before everything. I believe in god and i think he made them before us. But wouldn't you think a metor would have destroyed the bones too?Maybe they were humans who could transform and talk we can't figure out anything until sum1 goes back in time god doesn't want us to know neither does the government. Says this observer.

  7. YES... the fossil record does lie... they lived 225-65 million yrs ago, man evolved from ape-like ancestors more recent like 50-100 thousand yrs ago....

  8. Is it wrong to believe both?  I'm not a scientist, but I do know a bit about religion - enough to say that most (if not all) of our oldest religions are wrong with their creation theories.  I'm not saying your beliefs are not legit or correct, I'm not saying there is or is not a god/gods/higher being, I'm just saying that because the Bible was written so long ago without the scientific breakthroughs we've had in the past hundred years, they had to explain the cosmos somehow.  Back then, religion and science weren't nearly at each others' throats as they are now.  Think about the ancient Greeks: considerably learned in science for their time, very much into archaeology (probably the most into it in their day and age, too), yet very religious.  We have to look outside of the Bible and realize that the Bible is not the only creation theory, but also that what is NOT mentioned in it should not be taken as nonexistant.  We have proof that dinosaurs lived on Earth.  We have proof that ancient civilizations found dinosaur bones and kept them in their records.  How could they make it all up back then?  Also, anyone who says that Satan put the bones their to tempt us away from God is just ignorant.  I think it's probably more realistic and beneficial to one's own faith to feel the awe of knowing that the big bang probably happened, that our planet is older than just 10,000 years, to know that atoms are buzzing everywhere and make up everything, and maybe even to realize that evolution probably happened - I believe that's more beneficial to a religion than anything because it further exemplifies a higher power for being able to create such a hugely complicated universe!  So yes, dinosaurs aren't really in the Bible, and that's because the early writers did not understand everything in the world but needed a symbolic "excuse" until things were discovered.  Does that mean that dinosaurs didn't exist because they didn't know about them or didn't write about them?  No.  If you need proof, go to the museum and check out the bones.  They're there.  And while you're their looking at these long-gone dead lizards, praise god for his awesome power and ability to further complicate and diversify our world...it keeps things ever interesting!

  9. Yes, they did.  They dominated the planet for about 200 million years.  Their era ended about 60 million years ago after an asteroid struck the earth near what is now Mexico.  Their remaining descendants evolved into modern birds.

  10. they did find their fossils

  11. They DID exist, now, probably because of a meteor, they are all dead.

  12. They did. KTDykes answer is sufficient as always.

But do not forget, Saurischian dinos did not all go extinct. In fact, you probably eat one every year for Thanksgiving. All modern Aves are specialized decendants of dinosaurs.

Carbon dating cannot be used on anything over 50,000 years old. Dating dino bones would require something like U235-Pb207 or K40/Ar40

  13. They AREN'T real. They WERE real. :)

  14. Yes they did, but its not for me to say theres no God, Maybe it was something he did to experiment with life, before he made us.

Some people might say that the Devil put them there to test are faith.
