Are discount eyeglasses ok to use? Will they mess up your eyes?

My daughter needs glasses. She has had trouble seeing at school and is finally ready to get glasses. I had her pre-screened and her vision is estimated to be near sighted with her eyes 20/35 and 20/50.

It is a relatively light perscription as long as it is just near sightedness and not something more serious.

I don't have alot to spend and this place called America's Best near my house (www.twopair.com) is offering $69.99 for two pairs of glasses with a free eye exam. I figure that even if I throw in some more for hidden fees that I will still end up at only about $100.

She is going to wearing glasses and not contacts.

I had always gone to a higher end place, but they seemed to have screwed my glasses as much as any other place. Plus I figure with 2 pairs, I won't have to kill her if she breaks wither as they are less expensive.

  1. LOL...nothing wrong with that thinking...and it could be a good thing for her long term health it seems....lol

The frames won't be of a very good quality , but the lenses will be the right Rx at least , or she will know soon enough.

They won't s***w up her eyes, don't worry about that part.

  2. I believe the price in glasses is mainly revolved around the frames - whether it's a famous brand or a random brand.

For frames, I truly believe you get what you pay for as like most other things. If you want to get cheap frames, sure! Nothing wrong with that, but how long will they least? Will they be comfortable?

There's nothing wrong with your thinking and you have some valid points but would you risk your daughter developing problems from wearing them? Sure, nothing may happen during the short term but in the long run, problems may arise, probably costing you more than money.
