  1. Not really. It is what the rider does that makes it dangerous. Most of us, though, have a tendency to push the riding just a bit too much beyond the current skill level, lacking patience for the skill to grow by degrees. There is on occasion the freak incident. That, too, is a consideration and that can often be offset by judgment. Push your level of skill to where it is still comfortable and fun. Over-ride your skills and it becomes dangerous.  You can never beat the terrain or the bike riding beyond a comfortable skill level. Dangerous? The rider makes it so 90% of the time. Good luck. Dirtbiking is a real rush.

  2. My freind who had his bike hit him in the back after he fell off it probably thinks so.... (he is paralyzed and in a wheel chair for life)

  3. life is dangerous.... and so is riding... espessially if your rideing really hard... if the bike is too big for you and your inexperienced... your screwed... also if its trail riding.. raceing... freestyle or what ever your into... also if your with other who are intoxicated or inexperienced..

  4. It can be dangerous if you make it... i know some people that just want to show off and get really hurt you have to know what you can and can not do

  5. Only as dangerous as you make it.  If you are inexperienced, and on a bike that is too big for you, then definitely.

Past that it's a matter of how hard you push it - jump it, and race it.

If you don't fall off, you weren't really riding it.

  6. Yes. After riding one you will no longer be able to spell words correctly or write a coherent sentence.

  7. The best advice i can give you is.....Re-post your question (Cars & Transportation - Motorcycles), You will get more informative answers there.

  8. Yes and No b/c the more you push it the more likley you are gonna get hurt but if you are more experianced you can predict situations and your bike

  9. YES but sure worth the risk.love to crash and get up and walk away. stay inside your comfort zone.

  10. I guess it must be or so the disclaimer I have to sign every time my sons race says so in big words.  'Motorcycling is dangerous and you do so at your own risk'  It sort of puts a damper on the whole thing, but not according to my youngest who seems to look it in the eye and full speed ahead anyway.

But seriously it can be a very dangerous sport but if you take all precautions against injury then it is a risk that is minimized.  You can as easily get hit by a bus as hurt racing, but in saying that my youngest has had too many injuries to count on one hand, some of which include breaking both arms casing a jump doing supercross and completely dislocating his leg when he landed a couple of inches short on a large jump.  But short of banning him from something he loves what can one do!

  11. Sure. But so are skate boards and everything else. As long as you wear protection ( always a helmet, sleeves and long pants, closed toe shoes  and pads if you are really smart ) and don't do stupid stunts, you should be OK. It is the lack or protection or the dumb stuff that gets most people hurt.
