i just asked a question about dog fighting and got an answer of dogo argentinos being extremely aggressive..now i am one that hates reputing dogs (don't know if thats a word...but meaning giving a specific breed a reputation) I am 95 percent sure that dogo's are not that aggressive besides towards other animals which is there prey drive because they were meant for that...but everything I've read has made them out to be GREAT dogs..yes it takes a lot of training and socialization but with this you get an unbelievable companion..and hunter obviously.

  1. They're large, muscular, athletic dogs, bred for hunting. If you don't know what you're doing, with respect to dogs, they can get out of control. Sadly, very many people don't know what they're doing.

    That's basically it.

  2. The reputation of the Dogo Argentino is the same as American Pit Bull Terriers. The media only focuses on the negative aspects and happenings. With proper training and socialization, the breed doesn't matter. All breeds have the ability to be wonderful and loyal dogs. It's just a shame that so many of them are used for entertainment involving bloody battles.

  3. Yes they can be that aggressive... that is why an experienced owner of these dogs come in.  If you let these dogs get out of control they can be very aggressive.  Such as with the pit.  Pit bulls can be wonderful dogs as well... it's the lack of intelligence on the people that tend to purchase these dogs that have ruined the breed.
