This was answered before by cheeser1234567890 and his answer sucked, I stated that I wanted an answer based on brain capability not morals. Can someone give me a valid answer instead of this moral c**p neutrality, all species are not equal like some of you think.

  1. The answer is still unknown....

....Most scientists to-date have refused to take a firm stand on the intelligence level of the dolphin, and although many will admit that dolphins seem to be intelligent creatures, it is not a proven fact. The biggest problem researchers are running into seems to be the actual definition of intelligence.....

....While the research that has been obtained certainly makes it look like the dolphin may be the closest to our own level of intelligence, it may be quite some time before it's actually prove. Until then, they're true capabilities will remain a mystery.

Understanding of the Concept of Numerically Less

In our “Less” project, we researched the ability of dolphins to understand the first two concepts -- numerosity and relative numerosity. Two of our star research pupils, Talon and Rainbow, participated in this study. We began by showing each dolphin two boards with different numbers of dots on them: 2 and 6 for example. First, we asked them to always pick the board with 2 dots on it, no matter where the dots were on the board or what size they were.

The dolphin is asked to find “two” rocks

    Talon choosing the board

    with “less” dots.

Learning this task meant that Talon and Rainbow understood that 2 is different than 6, which is the concept of numerosity. The next step was to test with other number pairs that were new to the dolphins, and always ask Talon and Rainbow to choose the board that had the fewest dots on it. The ability to pick out the smaller number without being trained on that specific number meant that they understood the concept of “less”(i.e. relative numerosity).

....Through these studies, KBMML and TDI researchers described many of the fundamental cognitive, behavioral, and sensory capabilities of bottlenose dolphins and illuminated the world community about dolphin intelligence including how dolphins may perceive and interpret their world. 2. Richard dawkins said that dolphin's have the same level of intelligence as collie dogs.

  3. ya, so i hear

  4. no....because humans rule the planet. Humans aren't meant for the water, but, we can catch a dolphin.

  5. No, they do not it was an urban myth started with the increasing popularity of "save the whale".

Dolphins have problem solving abilities and social skills which make them a very advanced unit in terms of the animal kingdom, but they do not possess the same levels of intelligence that humans do. they do not have a language as such but communicate through clicks other noises this is not a language but is a form of communication, the ability to form a language and "talk" is the essence of intelligence on a human scale.

they are clever animals but they  are not more intelligent than humans. As for brain capability they use no more or less than any other animal, if we didn't use all of our brains at some point we would have a form of brain damage.
