I live in San Francisco, CA. I just walked to 19th ave and Irving by way of the Golden Gate Park. Yahoo maps says it's 2.5 miles by driving. I think it's more than 2 miles.

  1. Yes! Of course, a mile is a mile no matter how you're traveling. That's why they call it a mile. I guess maybe you're estimate of a mile is a little off.

  2. A mile is 5280 feet or 1760 yards no matter whether you drive it walk it or crawl there. You can walk, on your feet or on your hands or sit down and scoot on your rear if you wish. Regardless of means of transport, in order to traverse a mile you have to travel the required 5280 feet. It may seem a lot further when you wear out your muscles but it's still the same distance.

  3. If you cut through the park, walking miles is probably less, unless you followed a walking path that had a lot of curves.
