Are drug cartels using lobbyists to keep drugs illegal in US?

 I am sure there are a number of special interest groups represented at the feeding trough Reagan christened "The War on Drugs."  Yes, there's big pharma., then there's the U.S. Military and the Drug Enforcement Administration.  Then there's "jailco.," the private companie(s) that are now building and operating U.S. prisons for a profit.  Just removing criminal sanctions on marijuana alone would result in massive revenue loss to these companies and an almost immediate halt to construction of ever more prisons in the land of the free.
