To be fair,and its only fair to say,that for example we walked into town this morning,not a large centre but enough,and typically of a Sunday or bank holiday it was full of drunk Eastern Europeans.They are loud,obnoxious,manner less and over bearing.So I believe its time for the press to stop hounding our fellow country men,and show some meaning full comparisons of what all nations get up to.The British are by far to eager to bash themselves,and its time to address the balance of reporting.No doubt they would film this and say typical British town centre,is that fair,absolutely not.We have some very good young people,so lets hear it for them.

the british government does nothing to curb this behaviour, but when one of these drunken youths gets killed ( the people of crete have a tendancy to shot first and ask question later, literally ), then the brit government will blame the greeks, teach your kids some sort of manners before you let them loose on the world, you can train dogs, but your children thats another matter

It's not just Crete, it's Ibiza. it's Ayia Napa, it's Faliraki, it's every British town centre on a Saturday night. I just don't understand why these people (I wanted to say yobs) feel that you can't have a decent night out unless it involves getting so drunk you can't remember it, or worse, what you did, the next day.

I was speaking to an Italian woman a little while ago. She has lived in Britain for a few years and can't understand the "British disease" either. She said that back home, it was totally normal for a group of youngsters to go out for the evening and drink coffee or soft drinks, and to be seen to be drunk amongst your peers was something to avoid as it was humiliating. How I wish we had that mentality here.

Yes, it does make me ashamed to be British.

Edit - Anne S above. I agree that the barmen and moped hire shops must share the blame, but it still doesn't mean that the British kids going to these resorts are right to get paralytic in the first place. They should take responsibility for their own well-being and safety.

the cretians are ruining our kids , i was in crete a few weeks ago and they were serving kids who were legless , they were also hiring out mopeds to kids who were drunk

there would be an uproar if we showed as much disregard for their children , these are silly teenagers who have not yet grown up getting away with behaviour that they could not use in britain . all tennagers from many nationalities behave like this in Crete they are french german swedish and dutch . the place is a dump anyway

Well - they ruin everything else they touch.  Not just teenagers, though.  One thing - what are the local police and magistrates doing about it?  Or is it that the police aren't keen to jump on nuisances who are spending money - because if so, the locals have only themselves to blame.

As to the photo, it's easy - the fashion sense, if sense is the word, is pure C2DEngland - it would have been more difficult to tell had they been young professionals, who can also be a pain in the posterior on occasion - maybe not so often, though.

Really? And just who took those photographs? Some Cretan pervert? Most men in the eastern med. countries have girlfriends who look like that but who behave like angels - what sort of signals does that send out? We have properties in Bulgaria and the local girls look like 20 year old madonnas but have amazing parental constraints - they send terrible mixed messages to western and european young men.

If the man in charge is having a problem doing his job correctly then that is his problem and he's got to sort it out - our layabouts can be jailed or sent home with a recommendation that they lose their passports for five years. That won't happen, in fact - nothing will. The supercilious, in-bred idiots who run GB are brain defunct!

its not just british teenagers who go to foreign countries and get legless its teenagers of all nationalities. When i was on holidays i saw men and women of ages completely wasted making idiots of themselves and too be honest the middle age women where worst than the younger ones. i think its unfair in the press how all british teenagers are potrayed this way just cause of the way certain people act. We are not all like this ok fair enough i do go out with my mates and get drunk but i don't goverboardad and get that pissed that i can't remember what i did the next day and either do most people i know apart from special occasionsns. I think unfair how everyone is affected and labelled by the actions of some people who go out and get  wasted every week even if they are tea total they are assumed to be just the same.

Yes we all are I am sure. These teenagers, and that is what they are ,go around thinking it is great to fill themselves with drink and then cause all the troubles in the Streets.They show themselves up for what they are, and I would deal with them by locking them up for three days, informing their Parents and also tell them that if they are caught again in that State ... then the Parents will go to prison as they are supposed to be responsable Parents.This seems to be the only way of bringing their responsabilites home to them, because at this moment in time, they just seem not to bother what their kids do.

Not only can't you tell that they are British from that photo - but how can you tell that they are teenagers?  Could be in their twenties.  Further to this They may not be females even, since the article mentions cross dressing.  So they could be twenty two year old German men for all I know!.

yes they are and yes i am. the greeks have no reason to lie. they know its british teenagers. and just because cheap drinks are on sale doesnt mean they have to be bought. everyone has a choice and british teens choose to get drunk by lunch time.
