Are dry pine needles still acidic or can they be used for mulch?

Excellent mulch. In fact, you can now purchase it either by the yard (depending on where you live) or by the bag.

They are somewhat acidic. However, in most of southern california our soils are alkaline and tend to need acidifiers. As a general rule, mulches of any kind are a good thing.

Our forestry guy uses mulch with fresh pine needles in it and they're eventually gonna dry out, right? Our citys trees are doing okay.
