Are duracell recharable batteries supposed to get hot?

i got duracell rechargeable batteries today, but even though it says red light (meaning its still charging) they are getting really toasty. is it supposed to be like that?

  1. I haven't used Duracell rechargeables, but my rechargeable batteries do get a little warm while charging, but definitely not hot.

    Maybe best to invest in a new set.

  4. It depends.

    If the rechargables go into the charger when they're fairly dead, then there will be a powerful charging current. This large current flowing through a battery will create a lot of heat.

    If the batteries don't cool off after a short time in the charger, it may indicate a problem with the batteries.
