  2. Exotic species are not allowed to kept as pets by private citizens. This includes most mammals, reptiles, amphibians etc.

    However we can keep mice, rats, guinnea pigs, ferrets and rabbits. The last two are only allowed by some states, they are illegal in Queensland.

  3. All hamsters are gerbils are illegal in Australia because our government thinks people will set them free and they will become wild pest animals.

    We have Guinea Pigs though..
