Since people have an aversion to eating bugs, I'm going to have to ask more specific questions here to get a well rounded picture. So, are earwigs (North American variety) edible for human consumption?

If your just posting to be grossed out please IM it to your friend. I'm looking for something useful.

  1. yes they are (not tootasty though)

  2. Yes.  Most insects are edible, only a very few that produce internal toxins aren't, and most of those can be made edible by removing the poison organ.  Such as a scorpion's tail stinger.

  3. Yes.We can eat. It's protein w/  no fat. But I'm guessing it doesn't taste to good. There are no Mc Earwigs or Earwig pizza.

  4. Well,

When I was little, we struggled with money. And the mafia was trying to get us. So we had to run away.

All we could eat were plants and bugs. My grandma said that the earwigs were the tastiest and had the most protein. But a few years later, I developed an unexplainable colon disease. So no, I would not recommend eating earwigs. But roaches are pretty good and are known to be the cleanest insects around! (don't quote me on that though because my grandma told me that one too.) :[

  5. Yes.

  6. i wouldn't personally want to eat one, but as they say...whatever floats your boat!

  7. Yes, they are edible.

Keep in mind however, that it takes about 3,000 of them to make a sandwich.
