  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... They are not edible.

  2. no

  3. No they are not!

  4. Ow. :X

  5. I know that sometimes they are recommended to feed them to dogs. But most commercial eggs have a spray coating on them to prolong their freshness.. it must be removed, it's not good to eat. Which is done by boiling it off.. this would kill salmonella too.

As for humans I haven't a clue.. I bet you could if a dog can.

I use the shells in my Veggie Garden they are super good for Tomatoes.

  6. Actually, yes they are. I think the question more is whether they are palatable or not and I'd say not. There's few things worse than biting down on a piece of eggshell in the food.

Of course because of the salmonella threat you'd want to heat them somehow to over 160 degrees F whether by boiling, baking or microwaving should you choose to go ahead and eat them.

They are an excellent source of calcium and for that reason they are put in animal feed. People who keep chickens are encouraged to clean the shells, crunch them up fairly small and sprinkle in the hens' yard so they can replenish their own calcium stores. The chickens in the egg factories often lose so much calcium by the time they are culled out (in about two years) they are not able to stand without breaking their legs.

  7. yes

  8. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  9. NO.

  10. Only if your a dog or other animal with very strong stomach acids. This is why dogs can chew up bones but people can't.

Instead grind them up and use them in your garden, they keep snails away form your veggie plants. They will break down and the plants will draw minerals from them, so you will be eating them but after the plant has broken them down.

  11. They can have salmonella, so I would say no!

  12. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  13. There is nothing wrong with eating clean eggshells. They are made primarily of calcium carbonate, the same stuff that makes seashells and limestone. But I don't know anybody who thinks they are tasty.

  14. Well, salmonella or not, big factories that process eggs into food like biscuits and stuff just chuck them in, it gets powdered up and as far as i know no one has ever got sick from it...

  15. Here is the nutrient content of dried eggshell:
