Question:

Are eggs best kept in the fridge or at room temperature?

I've noticed when I keep eggs in a basket in my kitchen the colour of the shell fades. The ones kept in the fridge keep their original brownish colour.

Are they still fresh after fading?

  1. I think the eggs should be fridged

  2. either way they still have the great taste

  3. You do not make sense,,.

you claim they lose color (colour) on the counter..

How long do they set out ??

freshness- - - you do know it takes many days to get then in the store.??? mine set in the fridg for the month..

    so you decide..

  4. They should be stored below 18C - your kitchen is likely to be above that quite a lot of the time - so in the fridge is best.

  5. Fridge.

  6. I've always kept mine in the fridge, but then I keep everything in the fridge, just in case the room temperature changes. I like to keep my stuff as fresh as I can all the time.

  7. In the fridge in their original carton.

  8. fridge.......a way to check to make sure your eggs are still good you can put them 1 at a time in a pan of water. If the egg sinks it's ok to eat,but if it floats throw it out it is no good.

    Have a good day!

  9. id keep them in the fridge i buy white eggs but they stay fresher longer in the fridge sooo....ya!

  10. I keep my eggs in the fridge, but when I am going to use them for baking or cooking I take them out a couple of hours before hand.

  11. fridge no doubt

  12. Keep them in the fridge.

However, before using them in baking, they should be brought to room temperature.

  13. Eggs last much longer if kept in the fridge. Look at it this way, the warmer an agg is the more likely you are to get a chick from it . Hence why hens sit on them. Blimey, i said hence. first time for everything i suppose

  14. if you buy free range eggs or organic eggs they are best kept at room temperature, but shouldnt be left out longer than a week

    however

if you buy battery farmed or non organic eggs they should be put in the fridge, as this helps kill any infections or food poisioning that the eggs may contain

  15. myn r n da fridge

  16. Hedge Witch & Maz are right. But it's true, you can't keep eggs good for a long time without fridge.

  17. For all practical purposes, it doesn't matter.

They seem to "cook better" at room temperature, however, most studies seem to indicate that Salmonella (which grows in chicken barns, under foot) grows better in eggs at room temperature.

However, for most healthy adults, Salmonella isn't a great risk.

(I keep mine out. (But don't tell the Authorities!))
