Question:

Are eggs (of any type) good for a cats health?

My dad has been feeding my cats a lot of eggs recently and we don't like the idea of it (my mom, sister and I). One of them is somewhat heavy/flabby and 2 1/2 years old. The other is still growing and is a few months old. The eggs have mostly been fried. Is this really healthy for them?

  1. Kittens can be vaccinated pretty young I would call your vet.  The kitten will need a series of shots.  In regards to getting fixed I would wait until they are 5 months personally, though I do know when you adopt kittens from shelters they are already fixed and much younger than 5 months.  My vet would not do it until they were older though.

In regards to the eggs, I would not suggest feeding them to your cat.

  2. Hi, as fas as I know they're neutreous as effect but if you want to get specialised advice here's this forum I found on Natural healing and nutrition for pets. I suggest you give it a try: http://www.myhealth-forum.com/viewforum....

  4. Sure, eggs are ok.  It's ok to give raw yolks but not raw whites.  Whites would need to be cooked.  It would even be ok to cook the entire egg, but frying isn't a good idea if that means added oils, and of course you wouldn't want to add any salt.

It's a protein source and since it comes from an animal rather than a plant it's ok.

I don't know that it's doing any extra good or extra harm.  I would keep it to once or twice a week though.
