  1. well if it is less than a week your oK! if it has been more than a week check on the mom bird once and a while to see if it taking care of it. If this is the first egg they have had they are only learning. And ask around in your family. Has anyone in your family ever touch the eggs, if so they have gotten the human scent on it and they won't sit on it again because of the scent.

    I hope this helps!

  2. If it was there for a week then you have nothing to worry about.

If it was there longer try spying on the mama bird and check if it tries to warm the eggs if it doesnt try to get the egg and put it in a box and place it near a lightbulb so it can warm it.

  3. Well..hard boiled eggs get soft...

And to hard boil an egg you use hot water...

Was your egg in a warm location? Because the water from the cloth may have hard boiled your egg.

That's a wacky suggestion but may be true.

I couldn't think of anything else.

Maybe they do that before the chicky hatches?
