  1. In everyday speech they mean the same thing.  Egocentric has a couple of other meanings, though:

    Main Entry:

ego·cen·tric Listen to the pronunciation of egocentric

    Pronunciation:

        \ˌē-gō-ˈsen-trik also ˌe-\

    Function:

        adjective

    Date:

        1894

1: concerned with the individual rather than society

2: taking the ego as the starting point in philosophy

3 a: limited in outlook or concern to one's own activities or needs b: self-centered, selfish

  2. Both words sounds same...........

  3. There are related and close.

Egocentric means my focus is on me and my ego; everything revolves around me. The "center of the universe" is my ego, me, what I think about myself. This theme is concerned with how I think about myself and think others think about me.

Selfishness means that my intensions and concerns revolve around getting things for me, for my advantage and/or pleasure.  What I want, I want for me, as oppposed to others. This theme is more involved with acquisition, usually.
