  1. They are just fine.  Fast as a gas-powered engines?  In general, I doubt it.  You need the biggest, heaviest marine deep cycle battery you can afford.  That'll weigh more than a 2.5hp outboard plus fuel.

Don't forget a good quality battery charger.

  2. Any electric trolling motor on the market will do just fine on that boat - you will need to buy a deep cycle marine battery to power it and you will need  an automatic battery charger to go with it. A good battery will last for a full day of fishing, as long as you use the lower speed settings on the motor- it will not be as fast as a gas motor, but it is what you need to effectively fish with. Good luck and good fishing!

  3. Where I live, they are commonly used as trolling motors.  They definitely aren't made for speed.  You can row almost as fast as they will go.

But with a good deep cycle battery to power them, they will run for quite a while, maybe a couple of hours.

Where I live, the most common brand of electric motor is Minn-Kota.

There are many different models for many different prices depending on how much power you want and what features you need.  Any but the smallest of these motors will move this little boat as they are also designed to move full size bass boats.
