I bought a electric shaver so i would not have to buy shaving cream and blades. It also saves me hot water. I do have to charge it up every 3 weeks. and replace the screen every year.

  1. NO

  2. No sir.

The GREENEST thing you could use

is an old fashion straight razor.

  3. It sounds like the way you use it, not charging it daily, that it is better than the alternate. You are using electricity, but you have eleminated a lot of waste and chemicals from your routine. You conserve water, you don't put blades and their packaging into the waste stream, no more aerosol shaving cream cans or putting the contents into the water system.

    It sounds good to me.

  4. It depends on how many non-electric shavers you'd get through otherwise, and what you'd do with them after you could no longer use them. If you got through a lot and didn't recycle them then an electric one would be better, but if you only got through a few then they'd probably be better. Remember that when you buy a razor you are effectively making another one.

  5. They are better

  6. I would say yes, because if you use disposables, obviously that isn't good, and even those little razor blades in the old fashioned replacable razors are going into the land fill. If you shaved in the shower or something it might be energy efficient. But I think it is probably electric shavers are the best... plus they don't risk a cut up face!

  7. Actually, if you look at electric versus throwing away disposible razors - it is a more environmentally friendly option.

Disposables are made of metal and plastic which takes a lot of embodied energy to produce and most of them are not recycled so the plastic breaks down and pollutes the environment for years.

As long as your electric razor is only plugged in as needed, it's definately a more environmentally friendly option and will save you money in the long run.

  8. Yes they are. You don't always have to replace the blades and it saves water. The blades do cut back on trach also!! GOOD choice.

  9. Yes!

  10. it depends on how much enery it uses. it would say that yes it is much better for the envrionment. the production, transportation and sales of shaving cream and blades is greater than the cost of the energy needed to charge your electric shaver. However the MOST envrionmentally sound shaver would probabaly be one of those blades barbers use. it only needs to be cleaned and sarpened.
