  1. There are some studies that show polypropelene can delaminate over time releasing plastics into the water.  It's up to you to decide if that's OK with you.

Sure.  Just to make sure, look for the inspection insignia on the bottom of the unit.  The plastic is formulated to withstand the heat of the boiling water, and the heating element is encasted in aluminum.  What you cannot do safely is heat up cooking oil in such a device, for that may melt the plastic.

    The polypropylene plastic is safe for your health, if that's what you were worried about.  It doesn't leave anything in food or the water you boil.
