Not at all, most electronic and computer related goods are quite a bit more expensive than they are in the US for example, mainly because of high tariffs on imported electronics. I live in Thailand and when I want to purchase a laptop or digital camera I have someone pick it up for me in the US when they are traveling here, I save about 30% compared to the prices here. TV's are well priced here, but unless you find a good sale, Thailand is genrally not a good place to buy electronics or computers. You can check prices for many items on this website:

EVERYTHING is cheaper in Thailand.

Really nice bras usually got for around 2.50 - they'd probably be 25.00 here.

Most things are cheaper in Thailand, but electronics are usually the same price if not a bit more depending on what you want, because some things they have to import.

I agree with Gerald. Brand name electronics are way more expensive here in Thailand. TV's are reasonably priced.

The only electronics you can find in Thailand that are cheap, are local made, imports from China with no names, etc. There is tons of cheap electronics but not name brand and I would say buyer beware.

I took apart a Thai friends DVD player one time that she bought for like $20 and it was so cheaply made I could not believe it even worked.

Have to do a thorough job of testing anything before you buy here in Thailand.

Even things like memory sticks or thumb drives. Can find extremely cheap prices however, you might get it home and it does not work at all or fails soon after.

A lot depends on what you are looking for.

For audio and video equipment take a look along Asadang Road on the right side of Klong Lot in Rattanakosin. There are a lot of electronics shops selling unbranded gear that has been assembled in backroom factories.

You can get everything from discmans to disco systems, mutli-track recording studios and snazzy lighting. You can also get all the components to make your own.

It's good stuff too, I haven't bought branded electronics for years
